In 2018, the idea to start a festival-esque tribute to rock bands of the world sprung as a small idea through Malaysian Rally Champion, Karamjit Singh's love of rock music. The Rally Thru The Valley of Rock Series was born and in 2018, RACE ONE took place with 5 Malaysian bands tributing supreme rock outfits. Now returning in 2019 with more might, splendour and diversity, Thrive Talent Tank, sought after Malaysian band management and branding entity in association with venue and band sponsor Hangover PJ and Darrel Pierre Holdings Sdn Bhd is proud to present the RACE TWO. This event is also proudly supported by VervX.
The idea of this event is to propagate the very spirit of a Malaysian Champion Karamjit Singh, his love for rock music and the multitude of Malaysian acts to up the ante and present well known band tributes. Rock has always been the centre of Malaysian music landscape and this event will ‘fuel’ this passion further.
RACE TWO in 2019 will see 12 Malaysian tribute bands taking a Saturday every fortnight celebrating the diversity of rock music at Hangover PJ, in 3 Two Square, Petaling Jaya.. The LAP ONE (6 bands) will commence from 23rd February 2019 and the final band of this Lap will be on 27 April 2019. The LAP TWO (6 bands) will resume from 15 June 2019 to 24 August 2019. At the end of all 12 tributes a finale grand concert will be held before the end of the year.
LAP ONE. We will witness the tributes for the likes of Pearl Jam, Eric Clapton, The Police, Bad Company, The Rolling Stones and Red Hot Chilli Peppers by top Malaysian acts - The Goodflerz (featurning Justin of Nakedbreed), The Electric Church, Fab's Brew, Project Net, Classic Rock of Mine and Kaya (the band).
LAP TWO. The tribute will continue for international stars like Dire Straits, Black Sabbath, CC, Santana Iron Maiden and Rainbow. This Lap will feature prominent Malaysian acts such as Teddy Wolf, The Cauliflower Robbery, Band of Brothers, Sons of Adam, Stargazer Red, and Blast Jamz.
