KUALA LUMPUR, 29th November 2018 – Malaysia’s finest restaurants and culinary talents are the true flavour of the second World Top Gourmet Awards 2018. Organised by World Gourmet Federation (WGF), the awards are a tribute to best-in-industry and best-in-class achievements by food and beverage retailers.
According to Organising Chairlady, Peggy Chong, “This year’s edition of the awards is bigger and more exciting than last year. It attracted over-whelming participation from industry players. Our panel of judges had a tough time determining the winners as the standards of excellence were outstanding. That’s why we are truly ecstatic to reveal the winners’ list today.”
The World Top Gourmet Awards is an initiative to recognise the diversity of companies, brands and people within the F&B industry. The awards cover all cuisine genres and promote efforts in making Asia as one of the world’s top food destination.
Another initiative that is garnered through the awards is the noble vision of growing the industry. It is also an avenue for industry players to converge and connect with one another to share ideas and best practices while celebrating achievements. In conjunction with the awards programme, various events and activities had been organised. These include networking events, business exchanges, trade matching visits, food exhibitions, learning seminars and programmes – locally and internationally.
The criteria for award evaluation is stringent. The panel of judges, comprising industry experts, international chefs and renowned food connoisseurs had to make their decision based on food quality, service, dining experience, public reviews, ambience, menu selection, value and price structure.
Although not every category was accorded an award, the final winners tally showcased an impressive line-up of 40 Outstanding F&B Retailer awards, 10 Outstanding Chefs awards, 3 Outstanding Personality awards, Top 10 category, Master Chef of the Year, Gourmet City of the Year and Top Outstanding Contribution Celebrity Master Chef.
Attending this year’s finale are globally-acclaimed celebrity chefs who include Celebrity Master Chef Martin Yan from US who is renowned for his award-winning TV show “Yan Can Cook”; Celebrity Master Chef Jeffrey Tan OAM from Australia, Celebrity Master Chef Kent Vatcharavee Visetpohchanatip, Malaysia’s very own Celebrity Master Chef Wan and other illustrious names from the gourmet world who have flown in from various parts of the globe. World Gourmet’s Patron is Puan Sri Datin Seri (Dr.) Susan Cheah, Sunway Group EXCO member, who is a true gourmand in heart and soul.
In conjunction with the awards, there is the One Caring Heart corporate social responsibility initiative where funds are raised for underprivileged communities and outstanding philanthropists are recognised for their contributions to the campaign.
