World Top Gourmet Award 2018

On the 9 th August 2018, we were invited to the press conference for the 2 nd World Top Gourmet Award at Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa. This is the second time the event was organised by the World Gourmet Chapter of the International Business Federation after its successful inauguration back in 2017. The gathering on that day hosted a list of prominent VIPs, media members as well as the finalist for the award.
The World Top Gourmet Award, is not an ordinary ‘food’ award. Some may take it as an acknowledgement, a mark of approval or popularity from the world of cuisine, but it goes beyond that. The award is a recognition of superior cuisine, service and dining experiences which also recognizes unique neighbourhood eateries or niche business models. And perhaps that is the reason, this year’s participation has been overwhelming, according to Peggy Chong, the President of the Malaysian Chapter of the International Business Federation (IBF) – World Gourmet which is the organiser of the award.

So how do they keep up with the standard?
Like any specialty dishes, it is a meticulous and thoughtful process. The panel judges comprising of top food connoisseur will determine the outcome based on food quality, service and dining experience, public reviews, ambience, menu selection and price, among other things. Thus, that is how outstanding participants will be awarded. To add further prestige to the award’s authenticity and credibility, world renowned Celebrity Master Chef Jeffrey Tan (OAM) from Australia has been appointed as the official Ambassador for this year. Not forgetting, the Patron of the Award is Puan Sri Datin Seri (Dr.) Susan Cheah, Sunway Group EXCO member, a renowned socialite with exquisite taste and passion for good food.
Pretty though? From what I’ve seen on that day, the finalist themselves are the finest among the finest already.
You know how they say food connects everything? Well, at least I thought it’s possible ��
The World Top Gourmet Awards came about to provide a platform where opportunities for cross learning, business matching or networking, educational tours, events can be coordinated between businesses and consumers. Indirectly, this will be a perfect avenue to fuel economic growth, by tackling the gastronomic affairs.
Still on connecting everything, in conjunction with the awards, One Caring Heart Malaysia will organize Corporate Leaders with Caring Heart CSR Excellence Award 2018 at the same time as the World Top Gourmet Awards this coming November. The event intended to strengthen the
collaboration among the NGO and to appreciate the community leaders in line with the objectives of One Caring Heart Malaysia.
One Caring Heart Malaysia, as Puan Sri Datin Sri Susan Cheah has shared is to promote welfare activities, cooperation and unity among its members. True to her saying, “We must become the change that we want to see”, she lauded the NGOs that has supported their events and their willingness to unite for a greater cause.
